Ghanaian SMEs Enjoy Discounts at HR Event
Organizers of Ghana's biggest Recruitment and Talent Management Exhibition and Conference have announced special discount promotion for exhibitors and delegates of small and new businesses who want to increase their profits through the right application of Human Capital at the event. This important event, dubbed "Brighter Futures 2010", takes place at the Accra International Conference Centre from 8-10 July and is organized by Occupational Management Limited, an international Human Resource consultancy.
Announcing the April Madness Promotion, a spokesman of the organizers said, "Though we have had tremendous interest from multinational companies and organisations, we are also committed to ensuring that any company who identifies HR as the vital key in the implementation of corporate strategy, is not left out of the benefits of participating in this world-class event. In this regard, we have introduced Economy Stands at a specially designed pavilion at the Exhibition Hall for SMEs and new companies to compete favourably with their already established counterparts at less cost."
Some companies confirmed to exhibit include IPMC (top 10 Ghanaian company), Stellar Africa (international oil field service provider), Bioss (South African niche consulting firm), Bayflex Limited and Staces HR Group. Other participating organisations at Brighter Futures 2010 include Voltic, African Repatriation, Modern Ghana, Joblinks Newspaper, Africa News, Joblinks Africa, SpotOne Global Solutions, Bvents, Rylax Travel and Tours and others.
Over 10,000 jobseekers, graduates, mid-career executives, redundant workers are expected to visit the exhibition for free and will attend free CV clinics and tips on Interview Skills over the duration of the event. Attendees will also take advantage of the "Wall of Opportunity" where hundreds of job vacancies in companies across Ghana and Africa will be showcased.
The spokesman added, "Furthermore, we have reduced by over 30 percent conference fees for CEOs, Managing Directors, HR Directors and Managers responsible for Staffing, Recruitment, Talent Management, Organisational Development, Training and Development, etc attending the summit. Delegates will receive lectures, practical workshops and case studies from the HR experience of experts from reputable institutions like Ghana Commercial Bank, Ecobank, Anglogold Ashanti, Ashesi University, University of Johannesburg, London Metropolitan University, etc. Lastly, the outsourcing and networking opportunities presented at Brighter Futures 2010 will be enormous with international businesses coming down for the event."
Key note addresses will be delivered by top level career experts like Felix Nana Sackey, the Managing Partner of Deloitte and Touché and Dr Geoff Kirkwood, Group CEO for Asia, Middle East and Africa of Lifestyle Architecture, a global career development company with Professor Kofi Quashigah, President of Ghana Association for Certified Mediators and Arbitrators as co-chairman of the conference.

Edward Kwapong has over 26 experience in Human Resource Management and Administration, having worked with Ashanti Goldfields Company Ltd, Ghana‘s Volta River Authority and is currently, General Manager, Human Resources, at Ghana Commercial Bank Limited with a staff strength of 2191.
His current job includes managing the Human Resource base of Ghana Commercial Bank with special emphasis on Manpower Planning, Information Processing and Management, Industrial Relations, Training and Development as well as Compensation and Benefits.
As an HR Consultant, Edward has provided various HR services for many reputable organisations such as UNDP in Sierra Leone, the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre; the Trust Bank of the Gambia, Ghana Institute of Directors, Ghana Health Service, etc .Edward was also a team member of Continental Consultants Ghana Limited that designed a performance management policy for Ghana’s Civil Service in 2007.
He holds Barrister at Law Degree from the Ghana School Law, a Post Graduate Certificate in Job Evaluation, Solihull College, UK, Master of Public Administration (HR option), etc
He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, the Institute of HR Management Practitioners (Ghana) and the Institute for International Research, South Africa. Prior to his employment at the London Metropolitan University (The Business School,Philip Nukpe spent nine years at the University of East London (UEL) as a Senior Lecturer, leading modules and teaching computing and Business related modules from Database Systems through Business Information Systems to Research Methods and Projects/Dissertations at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Philip is the Course Leader for MSc in Computer Systems Auditing in the Business Analysis, Information Systems, and Transport & Logistics Department.He has tremendous experience in recruitment having worked as an international recruitment officer for his department and the university as well as delivering presentations in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, etc on recruitment issues.
Philip has also held numerous computer related positions in various companies before joining UEL. Mr Nukpe holds various membership affiliations with many associations including the Institution Of Analysts and Programmers (IAP), UK ; British Computer Society (BCS), UK; and Institute of Learning and Teaching (ILTM) UK. He is also a Fellow, Higher Education Academy, UK; and an Academic Advocate with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) UK.
His Research interests include Strategic Management Information Systems,Database Development, small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), having written over two dozen conference papers in these areas.

Esi Ansah Speaks at Brighter Futures
Esi Ansah is an assistant professor at Ashesi University, teaching Human Resource Management. She is also the Founder and CEO OF Axis Human Capital, Ghana. Prior to her current teaching job, Esi has also been an adjunct professor at Rutgers University and Harold Washington Community College.
